What is sports science?

What is sports science?Interested in sport and learning more about how the body works? Sports science is an exciting subject, which could pave the way to a variety of careers.

Sports science is the application of scientific principles to exercise and sport. It’s a rapidly expanding area and should open the door to a range of jobs in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, fitness and leisure industries.

Most sports sciences courses have a combination of these subjects:

Biomechanics: exploring the causes and effects of human movement and the way in which the body interacts with exercise equipment.

Physiology: the branch of the biological sciences that is concerned with the way that the body responds to exercise and training.

Psychology: the branch of sport and exercise science that seeks to provide answers to questions about human behaviour in sport and exercise settings.
